FST-100TPH Foam Stability Tester is a national standard brewery foam tester. According to the standards of NIBEM institute, FST-100TPH Foam Stability Tester measures the foam collapse time over a distance of 30mm. This measuring method is objective and believable, since it can well avoid the effect of flow. Besides, the effect of temperature, atmospheric pressure and humidity can also be calibrated.

Measuring principles:
FST-100TPH evaluates the foam stability through measuring the disappearing speed of brewery foam. Foam is an unstable mixture of air and liquid. The reasons why the foams disappear are as below:
1) Small foams consolidate to larger foams.
2) Foams are not in equilibrium (the effect of surface tension).
3) Consumption, coming from the damage to foams by foam liquid flow.
4) Gas diffusion.

Measuring Process:
Pierce the beer bottle with ISD-3000 Sampling Device. The pressure of compressed CO2 will transport the beer to HF-100 Head for Foaming. Then, the foams will come out. Fully fill the standard glass cup and then quickly put the sample into the measuring space of FST-100TPH to measure. The foam stability is measured as the seconds needed for the foam to collapse over a distance of 30mm (Note: the distance can be set by the customer).  
a) Move the electrode system of FST-100TPH downwards until two of the electrodes touch the foam surface, and then the two electrodes form a return circuit.
b) When the foams disappear, the two electrodes return circuit is cut off. Continue to move the electrode system of FST-100TPH downwards until two of the electrodes touch the foam surface.
c) When foams disappear to a preset distance (10mm) below reference position, timing begins. When foams disappear, the electrode system continues to move downwards to a preset distance (e.g.: 30mm). The foam stability value is the value recorded in the above period.

Moreover, FST-100TPH should be used together with ISD-3000 Piercing and Sampling Device and HF-100 Head for Foaming.
* ISD-3000 Piercing and Sampling Device which is used to sample from the bottled or canned beer.
* HF-100 Head for Foaming which is used to make the beer produce foams under standard.
* The customer can buy SDF-100 Sampling Device Filler for option. SDF-100 is used to sample from large tank and pipe in brewery plants. It can effectively avoid foams and conveniently do the measurement in lab after sampling.
